Luke Emig knew that he needed to be a drummer from a young age. When he was 12, he was so inspired after seeing a friend's band practice that he immediately started private lessons with esteemed Atlanta drum instructors. He continued his studies and performances throughout high school, and was later accepted to--and graduated from--Berklee School of Music. He graduated with a focus on World music and Jazz drumming. After returning to Atlanta, Luke performed with the city's most respected jazz, rock, funk, and afro-cuban players. He later moved to Colorado, toured with several bands, and eventually launched his teaching career.

Luke's teaching style follows a streamlined approach to technique, syncopation, subdivisions, and time keeping across all musical styles. He strives to give his students strong fundamentals, maintain excitement about playing, and provide support for each student’s journey. He incorporates improvisation into his lessons and often plays alongside his students, offering musical accompaniment to heighten the fun of each session while also demonstrating how to perform with other musicians in a complimentary fashion.

Luke lives in Golden, Colorado, with his wife and two cats. He enjoys spending time in nature, listening to and playing music, and enjoying the beautiful mountains, rivers, and people.
